We spoke with the president of the Association of Sports Wrestling of Ukraine about how the work of the ASBU changed after the start of the war, about new challenges and prospects
“From the very beginning of the war, I and our entire team had an awareness that we should move on and preserve the deep traditions of the Ukrainian struggle. The war motivated us to work even harder, to help and take care of the athletes even more, so that they could represent our country worthily at international competitions. After all, devotion to your favorite sport is for life and nothing can change that.
Regarding financing and organizational issues, the load on the Association has increased significantly. But thanks to the solidarity of our friends and partners, our U15 and U17 national teams had the opportunity to participate in all European and world championships according to the calendar. These age groups performed extremely well. Thus, the women’s national team became the first in the team standings at the U15 and U17 European Championships, and also took the third team place at the U17 World Championship. The freestyle team came third at the U15 European Championship, and the classics team won team bronze at the U17 European Championship. And in general, this year was extremely successful for the Ukrainian national teams in all age categories.
